This is Dr. Tashi , HoD (Medicine), JDWNR Hospital , Bhutan saying hello . I came across this website and am leaving a comment because doctors from WUSM SL have been visiting our hospital for a little over a decade now. This month we have a senior resident Dr Ambar and medical student Lauren doing their bit in the medical ward. They are taking good care of our patients and working very independently and efficiently. Over here our folks are pretty simple and the adage " it 's not what you know but whether you care " should serve to remind clinicians well.
Personally I like to believe that healthcare bringing us together as fellow brothers and sisters overrides all other benefits. This people to people contact is of primary importance . Other things will follow automatically. The backgrounds in which we have been 'conditioned' are obviously different but the human heart resists any 'conditioning' . Ciao.

Hi Lisa,

Congratulations on your double lung transplant! Our department has had the pleasure of meeting with many transplant patients over the years, and if there's anything we've learned is that the healing process takes time and it's different for everyone.

Our suggestion to you is to reach out to your transplant coordinator, who has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to keeping healthy post-transplant. She or he will be able to guide you on your road to fitness and wellness.

Thanks so much for the question, and we wish you the best in your recovery!

Sincerely,

Kristin Hall

There is some really good information here. Health Care Professionals are constantly at war with compassion fatigue and I am saddened to know that there is not much out there in terms of support for those who are suffering. Yes there is tonnes of literature on this topic and even some self-care tips but one of the things that some of the tips suggest is to talk to someone. What happens if the professional doesn't have anyone to talk to or wants to seek professional support - where do they turn?
Thank you to all health care professionals for all that you do.
